Microsoft | Sofware | Download Microsoft Office for the iPhone | Good news for all Apple iPhone users who have been patiently waiting for the release of Microsoft Office. After years of speculation, Microsoft has finally released Office Mobile to Office 365 for iPhone and is now available to install from the iTunes store.
As the name suggests, Office Mobile to Office 365 is only available to users who have Office 365 subscription. That is, if you do not have Office 365 subscription, you will not be able to use this application. However, you can sign-up for a 30-day trial of Office 365 subscription and then install the application to explore the Office applications on your iPhone.
The interface of this app is pretty good and works great on the iPhone. After launching the application, you will see an option to purchase Office 365 subscription or sign in if you already have a subscription.
Office Mobile to Office 365 lets you create, open, and edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This application also allows you to access documents from SkyDrive, SkyDrive Pro and SharePoint accounts. It even lets you open documents that arrive as email attachments.
While Microsoft says it has no plans to release a similar app for the iPad, Microsoft recommends using the Office Web Apps on iPad free service for all basic document editing tasks.
Note that you do not need to connect to the internet to make a fresh Word and Excel documents. Once the new document is created, the Office applications save files offline and then sync with your SkyDrive account when you connect your iPhone to the web.
However, the current version of the app does not support making a new PowerPoint document but allows you to view and edit Office document types.
