Microsoft | Sofware | 50 Best New Features In Windows 8.1 | Microsoft has finally released Windows 8.1 to the public and is available as a free update for all existing users of Windows 8.   • Start Button: Microsoft has restored the Start button in Windows 8 to help users quickly switch to the Start screen. Right-click on the Start button to see the Power User Menu (Windows + X menu) containing shut down, restart, and several other options.
  • Set the desktop background as the background screen started: 8.1 comes with an option that lets you automatically set the image as your desktop background the Start screen background. When you change the desktop background, Windows automatically apply the new image with the Start screen background.
  • Use the screen as a picture frame lock: The lock screen can now be used as a picture frame to display images from your local drive as well as SkyDrive.
  • Small tiles on the start screen: Start screen now lets you have a small application tiles.
  • Extra spacious tiled start screen: Some of the tiles on the Start screen tiles as Desktop Weather support and extra large sizes.
  • Option to disable Charms: An option that is present in the Taskbar and navigation settings to disable mantra that appears when you move the mouse cursor to the top or bottom right corner of the screen.
  • Shutdown and restart option in the Win + X menu: In Windows 8.1, you do not need to open the Settings charm to shut down and restart access option. Simply press the Windows key + X or right click on the Start button to see the shutdown and restart options.
  • Setting a new PC: PC Settings or Control Panel has been updated with a modern lot of new settings. Most of the settings are present in the Control Panel now available in the old PC settings as well.
  • Internet Explorer 11: This update ships with the latest version of Internet Explorer.
  • Film as a background screen started: Start screen now supports and equipped with a movie in the background by default.
  • Uninstall applications from multiple PC: If you use a Microsoft account the same on all your PC, you can now remove the application from your PC of all at once.
  • New SkyDrive apps: SkyDrive updated application allows you to easily browse and manage files in your SkyDrive account.
  • Colored betta fish boot screen: The Preview build including colored betta fish boot screen but will not be part of the RTM build.

  • Resize application: You can now resize the application to virtually unlimited size, such as a desktop program.
  • All applications on the Start: Simply click the Down arrow keys or swipe up from the bottom of the screen to see all the installed applications.
  • Highlights newly installed applications: The Start screen now highlights newly installed applications to help you easily access it.
  • Boot to desktop: When this option is enabled, Windows 8.1 boots directly to the desktop, the Start screen pass.
  • Start sync Screen: This feature lets you sync the Start screen layout and settings with Windows 8 PC sign-in using the same Microsoft account.
  • Download Manager in IE11 Metro: The modern version of Internet Explorer 11 including a download manager that can be accessed by using the Control + J hotkey.
  • New Pattern Start screen: Windows 8.1 includes the new Start screen patters and backgrounds, including the animation.
  • Native support for touchpad movement: Unlike Windows 8, Windows 8.1 does not require that you install a driver to activate the touchpad movement supported. All movements are supported touchpad out of the box.
  • Assigned Access: Available on RT Windows 8.1, Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.1 Pro Enterprise, it lets you activate Windows Store app experience on a single PC or tablet.
