You may also find that animated live tiles too intrusive, and you can easily switch them off so that they will display a plain background with no animation.
Click, hold and drag the app to the desired location.
Release the mouse. The app will be moved to the new location.
Right-click the app you want to change.
Toolbar will appear at the bottom of the screen. Click Turn off live tiles, and the tiles will change to a plain background.
