Microsoft | Sofware | Russia's Largest Provider Throw iPhone to Windows Phone | Windows Phone is successfully established itself as the third most popular smartphone OS in the world by shifting the BlackBerry, but its market share is still very small when compared to iOS and Android. Windows Phone to date has only 3.2% market share globally.

Today Russia's biggest provider, Mobile Telesystems (MTS) decided to no longer sell the iPhone and choose to start selling Windows Phone. Of course this can improve Windows Phone market share globally.

MTS Chief Executive Andrei Dubovskov said:

Apple asks operators to pay a very large sum of money, to subsidize the iPhone and promotion in Russia. Now it is no longer in our favor. We decided to stop selling the iPhone because it can make us lose sales

Although Android is still the ruler of the smartphone in Russia, but the chances of MTS see Windows Phone. MTS decided to start selling Windows Phone and promote the smartphone at their retail network. MTS is now established close cooperation relationship with Nokia and Microsoft to introduce Windows Phone to consumers.

IDC analyst Simon Baker stated that the popularity of Nokia in Russia used to be a valuable asset to make market share and Windows Phone Lumia grow there.
