Microsoft | Sofware | Facebook And Flipboard Apps For Windows 8 | Facebook and Flipboard are two platforms, if not the application, which does not need any introduction. While Facebook has been around for more than a while and have a much larger footprint in the digital world than anything else, Flipboard debuted on iOS and redefine the concept of social news reader, later expanding to Android and other popular platforms. Now, it seems that the two officially made its way into Windows 8 ball as well, where both applications are showcased today at BUILD 2013, right alongside Windows 8.1 Preview Download announcement.
Windows 8 biggest beef is always a lack of applications, where iOS and Android overshadow the competition by a large margin. Windows Store is gradually growing, but still not enough, and the addition of two major applications such as Facebook and Flipboard to this mix will certainly be the first step in the right direction.
During Windows 8.1 announcement, Steve Ballmer confirmed both apps coming to Windows 8 platform, and even showed off both the 8-inch Acer tablet running Windows 8. Announcement would have been great, and proof of the fact that Microsoft really wants the new version of the Windows operating system to be successful, for all smartphones, tablets and PCs. Unfortunately, though, there is no ETA when the two applications will be available.
On his own part, claims that its Windows 8 app Flipboard will be the best ever that the company has done so far, and will complement the beauty and elegance of a modern UI. Facebook, on the other hand, has become one of the largest social network on the planet, and even receive billions of website visitors every day, which allows millions of people to connect and interact with each other. The social networking giant has enjoyed a large following in smartphone platforms like iOS and Android, and offers a really polished app for both, so we expect Windows 8 variants to be top notch as well. According to Steve, the application would be an interesting way to improve Facebook's vision for connecting people (no pun intended to Nokia), and we expect nothing short of it.
