Microsoft | Sofware | How to Control Android Device remotely via SMS | Having remote access to your mobile device can be a very valuable tool, especially if you happen to misplace or lose said device and want to increase the likelihood of safe return. We have featured many applications such as here, and another exciting venture for Android users has just appeared over at XDA-Developers forum. Duty called SMS, it offers much more in terms of functionality from other applications like, and all of these controls can be generated by sending an SMS command base. Full details after the jump!
Forums XDA-Developers vomit all sorts of weird and wonderful Android hacks, and jkok members have delivered on both with a very well put together application. In essence, the SMS task is always-on devices continue to listen to your messages to catch any command. Send a message with the command and the suffix "@ password" (the password you set a password to prevent possible cases of abuse), and SMS Task orders will get to do it.
The only drawback to the app, if you can call it a downside, is that while it is not the root of it, you will need to run a rooted device to enjoy most of the useful commands are offered.
However, if you are an experienced Android modder, likely would have rooted your device as soon as you've got your hands on it and if not, you may have rooted devie spare knocking about for this purpose. With root access you can use the SMS task to shut down your device, restart (for recovery if you are so inclined), write terminal command, uninstall apps and cut your lock screen security interface.
Obviously, you will want to make sure your passwords are safe is one that no one else can probably guess, if a person can easily enjoy this kind of everywhere. Also, if you do not fancy way too many orders on hand then you might want to give a try Turn Off remote, which allows you to remotely turn your Android device using SMS. Not exactly earth shattering feature, but it's there. If you want something more functional, or rather should I say, go ahead, then the task of SMS is the way to go.
If you want to provide SMS task, let alone head to the original thread at XDA, where you will find all the details right from the developer, and be sure to leave your thoughts and comments below.
