Leaving the Start button and Start screen customization options aside, the Windows 8.1 SDK support package to PayPal, which basically allows developers to integrate the payment system to the Windows app store.

Microsoft chief evangelist Steve Guggenheimer revealed during his keynote at the BUILD developer conference that Windows 8.1 makes it easier for developers to promote and monetize their applications.

In addition to PayPal SDK, the operating system will also include the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite.

"Publishers and brands will be able to design and publish content to devices like Microsoft Surface, and designers can use DPS to make all sorts of applications are dynamic and interactive," said Guggenheimer.

At the same time, Unity Pro 4 will finally arrive on Windows 8, Microsoft promises and some interesting tools for developers who embrace the new platform updated.

"Unity, one of the most popular games platform development industry, with 2 million community developer, announced commercial support for the Windows Store is coming summer of 2013. Unity Pro developers will receive a free license to build, and get support for Windows and Windows Phone, "the company said.

"In addition, developers with Microsoft Studios publishing agreement will have free access to the Unity tool for Xbox 360 and Xbox One, including enhanced support for Kinect and SmartGlass movement."

Windows 8.1 is currently available as a preview, but the RTM version is expected to hit the market later this year. Experts suggest that Windows 8.1 is set to reach RTM stage in August, while the general availability scheduled for October apparently.

Further details on the official launch date is expected to be awarded in the coming months because Microsoft is collecting feedback on the Preview version to repair the operating system.
