How to Convert Text to Table and Table To Text In Word 2013

You can convert text separated by specific characters, such as tabs, to the table. We'll show you how to do it and how to convert the table to text.

For example, you have some text that includes the month and the number of days they are appropriate. Before we work on converting text to a table, you might want to see a sign and verse format so that you can see how your text separated. You can even specify characters that are not registered by other and chose to enter the characters in the edit box.



Now that you have converted your text to a table, you can easily convert it back to text. To do this, select the table by moving your cursor handle table in the upper left, and select the table. This highlights the entire table.

Note: If you do not have a consistent number of separator characters on each line, you may end up with rows and columns other than the one you want and text may not be placed correctly.


Tab tool table became available. Click the Layout tab.


Data on the Layout tab, click Convert to Text.


On converting text to table dialog box, select the character that you want to use to separate the text field. This example, we want to use tabs to separate text. Click OK.


Each row of the table into text lines with tabs separating items from the column of the table. This word automatically inserts a bookmark tab on the ruler to line item of the column of the table.


This feature is useful if you have some text from another document that is not set as the table initially, but you want it in a table format. Just make sure the delimiter character for each line is set correctly and then convert the text to a table.
